Sex: the Viagra Way of sexuality

Since the dawn of civilization the culminating point of a love relationship between two lovers was described as making physical love, or in a raw language 'having sex.' Ancient and modern literature from most of the cultures has taken the concept of lovemaking to the level of ecstasy and art. Psychologists found out through analysis that sex plays most important role in a love relationship, within lovers as well as between husband and wife. State laws have allowed divorce on the basis of inability to perform sex in either of the married couple. Sexuality is an essential component of life, and the impact is undeniable, both mentally and physically. To both sexes, male and female, sexual prowess and sexual ability to have sex is associated with their inner ego. But what results when your ego is hurt at the bottom?

Erectile dysfunction is something that hits a man below the belt and leaves the man hopeless and extremely frustrated. The consequences of ED do not wait for my explanations; I know you can very well understand. May be some of you, who are reading my article, have actually gone through this phase of life, or presently going through. Until recently, erectile dysfunction was a hush-hush matter and men were ashamed of discussing their penile weakness even to their doctor. Avoiding sex night after night giving meaningless excuses, on the other hand, leads to making the wives doubtful of their husbands' fooling around. Men were leading life as if there were no solution to it; this conclusion was drawn after going through all the "operation impossible" s. I know it is a long story of pain and suffering. Hold it before you lose the last hope, there is a spark of light at the end of the tunnel...Viagra.

You have heard about it but never tried it, am I right? Are you expecting any kind of assurance from a trusted source that you will not be blind after taking Viagra pill? Let me tell you that it’s not Viagra that caused the blindness but it was the reaction and the outcome of taking Viagra without prescription and not abiding by the restrictions given on the label. Again, Sildenafil, the main ingredient of Viagra, not only gives you stronger erection per pill, it actually treats Priapism, a disease related to painful erection for more than 6 hours without stimulate sexual desire. At the same time, Viagra can slowly correct mechanism of the blood flow to the penis. If you were reluctant on the issue of discussing your ED with your wife, just go and see your physician and talk to him about your physical condition, ask him if you can take Viagra and get back to normal sexual life.

I do not consider the idea of living with ED as a good one. Since the introduction of Viagra, things have changed so fast that people are no longer referring to male erection problem as impotence, but a new term has popped up for it, 'erectile dysfunction' that is more scientific and less ego-hurting. Impotent is no longer a male characteristic or image, rather a name of a disease that is treatable. The impossible was made possible only by Viagra, the pioneer sex pill to cure my erectile dysfunction. Why not try it and enjoy even better sexual life?

The most common causes of impotent in senior citizens

According to some statistics, about 50% of men that are more than 40 years old suffer from impotent. This percentage is growing as the aging process continues. What is shocking is that most of them are suffering although there is a solution.

Impotence is a very common health problem in men that are more than 65 years old. It can affect the relationship with the family partner and even with the community.

No matter if you are dealing with erectile dysfunction(ed) or you simply want to improve your sexual performance in the bedroom and surprise your partner, you should definitely consider male enhancement pills. But, before you do that, it is also a good idea to check the causes of impotence in the first place.
These causes of impotence in old men can be separated in five categories – pharmaceutical, hormonal, cardiovascular, psychological and neurological. When it comes to specific causes of importance in this category of people we can list few of the most common ones. By learning more about the causes, you will learn how to deal with this problem.

Obesity
Unfortunately, the number of people who are obese in old age is growing. Obesity often leads to diabetes, heart disease and impotent. Since you have more time when you are old, take some time for yourself and your health. Follow the advice of experienced nutritionists, start practicing a new healthy diet and don’t forget to be active. These activities will surely reduce your weight and make you feel better. Of course, it treat impotent as well.

Diabetes
Diabetes is considered to be the main risk factor for the occurrence of impotence/erectile dysfunction(ed) in old men. Problems related to arteries and nerve damage are some of the complications as a result of diabetes. Impotent is present when these damages to the nerves and capillaries are located in the penis. In addition, diabetes is closely related to heart disease and kidney disease which can also increase the chances of erectile dysfunction(ed).

Neurological factors
Diseases that affect the central nervous system can lead to impotence too. Some of these diseases and disorders that are frequent in old men like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or stroke are on top of this list.

Benign hyperplasia
Benign hyperplasia of the prostate is actually overgrowth of the prostate cells or expansion of the prostate. The frequency of this disease is increasing with the aging process. According to some statistics certain degree of benign hyperplasia is present in 2 out of 3 men a the age of 40 and in more than 90% of men older than 75. It is good to mention that the disease itself doesn’t cause impotence, but the drugs used to treat this disease can lead to side effects linked to erectile dysfunction(ed).

Injuries and physical trauma

Unfortunately, things like injuries and physical trauma are not uncommon in old men. Trauma of the pelvis like pelvic fractures and spinal cord injuries may lead to damage to the nerves which eventually leads to impotence. Soft erection treatment with pills is highly recommended, but only with monitoring and consultation with a specialist.

Factors Affecting Sex Life In Senior Citizens

Graying hair, loose muscles and weakening voice are all signs that remind a person that age is taking a toll on him or her. Another thing that is mostly only whispered is about boosting sexual desire and sex drive. While the gusto of youth may have diminished, does it mean that seniors can’t enjoy good sex up to their sunset day? Why is it that there is general assumption that senior citizens past a specific age have already had their sex days and should live in relative celibacy?

Why seniors are perceived as asexual
There are many factors that contribute to this concept.  A few of these include:

Societal views about sex
In some communities, sex is perceived as a means for procreation only. This makes it difficult for senior women past the productive age to display their sexual feelings lest they are seen in bad light in the unwritten rules of the society.

Men are not spared either by the judgmental society. Derogatory terms such as ‘dirty old man’ are common for seniors who show that despite their age they still have sexual needs to be met.  While sexually active older men can easily ride against such a tide of criticism, it is much more difficult for women.

In addition to the above, religious believes also play a major role in creating the wrong impression about sex. Many create a picture of sex being a sinful desire of the flesh that needs to be suppressed. With this believe, sex in old age is given little attention.  As studies have shown, sex is like a muscle – you use it or lose it. When the larger population sees such asexual seniors, they get the impression that that is how all good senior citizens should live (or behave).

Diseases and disabilities

It is true that advancing age increases the risk of certain diseases. For men certain health conditions can reduce or even kill their sexual desire and function. Such disorders include:

·        Cardiovascular diseases like hypertension
·        Vascular disorders including atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis
·        Metabolic disorders including diabetes
·        Lack of libido
·        Obesity
·        Low testosterone levels
·        Depression
·        Prostate tumors
·        Operations like prostatectomy

The prevalence of these health problems make many people assume that old people should only be actively swallowing pills to keep them alive than being busy engaging in sex.

Women are also not spared by the increased risk of disease that comes with age. There are conditions that can also greatly reduce their sexual desire and drive. To the unknowing population they might think that these women have reached their ‘sell by sexual shelf life’. The burden of disease and society expectations can end up killing any remnants of sexual desire in such women. Common conditions that can lead to this sexual state include:

·        Falling estrogen levels
·        Falling testosterone level. Women need this hormone not only for healthy sex but for overall good health. The hormone levels are however, much lower than in men.
·        Bone disorders including arthritis.
·        Pelvic operations including hysterectomy
·        Systemic and metabolic disorders seen in men.

It must be noted that despite this conditions many older women still desire and enjoy sex even after extensive and invasive pelvic surgeries.

How can seniors retain better sexual health right into their ripe old age? That is a topic for a future article.
